It’s been a couple of days since we checked in with the Dojo and boy are we mad at ourselves. Not only did we miss the unveiling of a new stage in the Bridge of Eldin from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but also a new Assist Trophy in the eccentric mayor of SimCity. That’s right, none other than Dr. Wright has made his way into the game and, as one might expect, his penchant for helping build incredible cities has made its way in with him.
Check out the gallery below to see what we mean.

Given Atlus’ sales success with Trauma Center: Second Opinion, timing the remake to release with the Wii’s launch, it’s no surprise that the small publisher has readied a true sequel for the surgery sim. Trauma Center: New Blood introduces two young surgeons, Markus Vaughn and Valerie Blaylock, along with several exciting features: a cooperative mode, online leaderboards, and a 16:9 widescreen mode. Throw on your scrubs and hit the gallery up for New Blood’s first screenshots.

With only one more day of waiting before the debut of the diminished E3, we’ve decided to get serious and offer up some real predictions about what we will — and won’t — see at the show. Check after the jump for the breakdown, by writer, of the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of our E3 hopes and fears.
David Hinkle
- New Wii Ware content channel: Nintendo will finally give us a look at how we’ll be downloading, and hopefully enjoying, original content on the Wii.
- Nintendo will show us a significant look at Disaster: Day of Crisis, including explanations on the controls scheme, as well as an extended trailer.
Alisha Karabinus
- Hard Drive add-on. I’ve been talking about this forever and I think it’s integral for some of the ways Nintendo could really capitalize on the Wii.
- Nintendo will withhold any other real information, and playable demos will probably be few and far between, even among 3rd party devs working on Wii games. I think a lot of 3rd party games may be announced, but we won’t see any of that until next year.
JC Fletcher
- Not a word about Sadness.
- There will be numerous Wiimote accessory announcements from Nyko, Naki, Mad Catz, Pelican, etc.
Eric Caoili
- New channels that give you more opportunities to use your Mii characters. The channels might not be useful, but they’ll be fun for at least 10 minutes.
- No Animal Crossing Wii. Nintendo will save this one for TGS. Instead, we’ll have a closer look at Battalion Wars 2.

Activision and RedOctane have finally unveiled the Wii’s Guitar Hero 3 controller. Like the one for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, it’s based on the Gibson Les Paul shape, with a removable solid white faceplate. However, unlike the version for the other systems, it’s got a big cavity in it for the Wiimote, which a lot of us expected.
Does the fact that we have already bought about $40 worth of this controller make the $90 price for game and guitar too high? It’s an old argument, but now that we have a little more information, it may be worth thinking about again.

We’ve been laying down some predictions — albeit ridiculous, silly predictions — for quite a while now, and while we may just get serious later (’cause E3 is serious business), we thought it might be a good time to take a break and ask you what you think will happen at the new show. Tragic game delays? Hot new announcements? New channels? C’mon, share!

We’re no stranger to the partnership between Nintendo and Wendy’s, what with seeing the toys and the contests. Well, we just got an email from their PR folk, letting us know there are still 250 Wiis left to win from the company. And, you don’t have to even get up from your chair (although those nuggets sound good right about now)!
Nope, just point your mouse towards here and get to entering as these 250 Wiis only have a month left to go. They’re also giving away points cards and, if you need more reason to enter (as if), then you can even hit up the winner’s map (link is in the bottom middle) to see some of those who’ve already won across the country.

Not a day passes without some poor sap’s waggling image being posted on Flickr or YouTube, their awkwardness immortalized for the world to see. Today’s Penny Arcade comic is a cautionary tale for all the gamers out there who lose themselves in the Wii’s heightened brand of immersion, flapping their hands and dressing in costume for that authentic experience.
With Harry Potter mania being at an all time high — several video games, a new movie, and the final book all within a few weeks’ reach — we’re at our most vulnerable. Guarding ourselves against these embarrassing exposures should be priority one. Remember that the next time you start riding your mother’s broom during a mock Quidditch match and notice a red light blinking in one of the room’s air vents.

Okay, before we start talking about these new NiGHTS screenshots, we’ll preface ourselves. We are huge Sega fanboys from way back. We played hours of Penguin Land. We were excited about the bundled Altered Beast in the first Genesis boxes. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is right up at the top of our “most wanted” list, no matter what. We don’t really care about graphics if the gameplay is good. We love Sega, and we aren’t graphics snobs.
But we have to say that these new screens of NiGHTS don’t look that hot. Specifically, the textures are horribly blurry. This is pretty disappointing. NiGHTS should be a visual feast. It doesn’t help that Jeux France’s images are in double the Wii’s native resolution. They look better in a more Wii-like 640×360 resolution, as they appear in our gallery, but even so, those textures are pretty dire. We know the Wii can do better than this, and we know that Sega can do better than this.

Namely, details regarding the main character Travis Touchdown and his amazing Beam Katana. Turns out, the fine young gentleman picked it up from an online auction and will, like the lightsaber it draws inspiration from, block bullets. And, as one might imagine, such a deadly weapon will demand a lot of power, so players will need to constantly recharge the weapon by finding batteries or, should there be none around, by shaking the Wiimote.

Following news that Sony would be cutting the price of its PS3 console, rumors are floating about that Microsoft could be set to do the same with their Xbox 360 console. What does this have to do with us Wii-loving folk out there? Nothing, as Nintendo doesn’t seem to think that Sony’s price drop, or even a Microsoft one, is going to affect their great grip on the market right now.
George Harrison, senior vice president of communications for Nintendo of America, says that a “$100 price drop won’t make a difference.” Harrison goes on to wonder “Can Sony afford a $200 price drop? I don’t think so.” We’re inclined to agree, since apparently the only reason to own one is for a 3+ year-old game, anyway.
